It’s the start of April and the odometer reads 3,109 kilometres. My goal for the year is to ride 12,000 kilometres.
This last week I did some early morning rides along the beautiful Great Ocean Road and its surrounds. A place that heals the spirit and calms the mind.
Lorne, Victoria is an ideal base for the road rider. There are easy options for excursions along the coast to the small towns of Wye River or Aireys Inlet (35 – 40km return). Longer ride options also to Apollo Bay and beyond. All the towns have cafés for breakfast and coffee. You can also venture up Deans Marsh Road from Lorne for some climbing and a change of scenery, if you happen to tire of the ocean vistas.
So many possibilities. I did it all and wanted more.
Just a reminder that registrations open tomorrow for Amy’s Grand Fondo, a 110 kilometre ride along closed roads, starting and ending at Lorne. The ride includes a 40 kilometre section along the Great Ocean Road. I’ll be there again. More information on Amy’s Ride can be found here.
