The story goes that the Polish wanderer, writer and photographer, Kazimierz Nowak, cycled and walked 40,000 kilometres across Africa from 1931 to 1936.
The story goes that he sold photographs and stories to newspapers to finance his travels.
His account of the journey, Rowerem i pieszo przez Czarny Ląd (By bicycle and on foot across the Black Continent), was published in 2000 in Polish.
The story goes that he died in 1937, aged 40, in Poland from pneumonia and malaria.
