Jesús Manzano, the ex-Kelme rider, told a sad and sordid tale, during his three hour testimony at the Puerto trial in Madrid, Spain. He claimed that team management coerced him to take banned sport enhancing drugs and that his refusal to comply would result in his dismissal.

When asked about the use of the extract Actovegin, which is taken from the blood of calves and is used to enhance aerobic oxidation in mammals, and the solution Oxyglobin, which is used to treat anaemia in dogs, Manzano said:

We used to joke about it. Some days we would go out barking and others we would go out mooing.
