New year, new kit

by Old Bone Machine

I couldn’t work it out, the song or the singer. I was eating breakfast at a cafe and it was hearing the song unexpectedly that did it. Hearing it in a different context. That’s what confused me.

At the start of the year, the pro teams update their kit with new colour schemes and sponsor’s logos. Pictures of riders in new team jerseys are circulated. This is part of the ritual. A part of the anticipation and excitement of the coming race season.

It will be a point of great interest to see how the Manx Missile (Mark Cavendish) performs within the context of his new team, Omega Pharma Quick Step.

Cav’s old team Sky have a new wardrobe designed and tailored by Rapha. A point of greater interest will be seeing if and how Sir Wiggo (Bradley Wiggins) defends his Tour title.

By the way, the song was For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti by Sufjan Stevens. Treat yourself and give him a listen here.
