I rode the barometer this morning, my standard ride. This is the ride I do more than any other. The barometer is a test and a gauge of my physical well-being. My state of mind.
The route goes up and down and up and down again, along the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road. I start at Upper Ferntree Gully, head up towards Olinda and then down to Montrose on the other side of the mountain.
I then turn around and return home.
It’s 45km, relatively short but with 1000 metres of climbing.
Today I was strong and I rode hard. On the descent to Montrose, a Harley Davidson roared by me. I roared also and was reminded of the following Hunter S. Thompson quote:
Faster, Faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.
